A little help, please?

For my Children's Lit. course I'm required to read 3 Newberry (or Honor Newberry) books. I've already selected two to revisit from my childhood (Ramona Quimby Age 8, and The Giver), but I wanted suggestions from fellow readers for my third selection. Any comments about children's lit in general are also welcomed! One million thanks!

    I looked through the list and there are so many awful historical books that I had to read in school like The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle and Johnny Tremain. I did see Holes on the list and although I have yet to read it Jason loved it.
