Den Brysomme Mannen

A patron recommended Film Movement films to me the other day. Apparently it's a film of the month service that offers first run award winning independent films for its customers. Also available for single purchase. And the library has some of them. But I took out one that she was returning to watch, and it was very very good. Creepy and alternate reality-y, sort of in the vein of La Moustache. Not as subtle as that one, but not heavyhanded. It was called the Bothersome Man, and it was Norwegian. Also some truly horrifying moments, so consider yourself warned.

You can check out the trailer from that link. Either link.

Some days...

...it would be so easy to spend the whole day doing nothing but listening to music.

Tyger

This is an awesome short based on one of my most favorite poems ever, Blake's "The Tyger." (do any of you remember the episode of Batman The Animated Series that feature this poem? This poem inspires some great stuff!) This film is made by Brazilian animator Guilherme Marcondes and combines a beautiful tiger puppet, animation, and night shots of Sao Paulo.

Mr Bird

Another fabulous concert by A. Bird.

I was fortunate enough to see him three times this year, and this time was just five days after seeing The Mountain Goats. How can one girl be so lucky?

He played for two glorious hours, but I would have been fine with another hour or so : )

If you are even mildly an Andrew Bird fan, you owe it to yourself to see him live or at least check out a live recording (which are plentiful). He's just magical.
